BH War Veterans Hostel is an approved 27 bed, low care facility (including 1 Respite Care bed) offering a relaxing home-like environment, surrounded by lush native gardens and lawned areas, beautifully maintained by our on site Gardener. We have recently completed a superbly landscaped covered pergola entertainment area which is available for all residents and their families to use.
Each unit is fully self-contained, and includes basic furniture items, washing machine, fridge and reverse cycle refrigerated air conditioning. Vital Calls have been installed in each unit for safety and assistance if necessary. All laundering is done on-site, including personals and the facility-provided linen. Meals are all inclusive of board payments (3 per day + snacks).
Situated close to the Broken Hill Base Hospital and Doctors surgeries, War Vets residents have satisfaction in knowing they have nearby access to all Allied Health Care.
We provide quality care for Residents previously assessed by the local Aged Care Assessment Team and have suitably qualified nursing staff on duty 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including Registered Nurses, Certified Assistants in Nursing and Personal Care Assistants.
We proudly state that we have recently (November 1999) been Accredited (3 years) by the Commonwealth Government as an aged care quality service and holistic care provider.
Many of our Residents attend outings such as concerts, happy hour, local club functions and lunches, tourist spots, picnics, cinema and visits to other aged-care facilities. The public bus route passes the Hostel, otherwise taxis and the HACC Bus are available upon booking.
The staff and Management of War Vets Hostel believe the individual resident's interests, customs, beliefs, cultural & ethnic backgrounds are of the utmost importance and are highly valued and fostered.
